Change Quotes

Change Quotes are popular, traditional quotes interpreted by Jim Canterucci from a change leadership perspective.

Peter Drucker

"The talk you hear...about adapting to change is not only stupid, it's...dangerous. The only way you can manage change is to create it. By the time you catch up to change, the competition is ahead of you."

We are too dependent on outside forces as a motivation for organizational change. It's true we have to react to the marketplace. Those that react to a changing marketplace faster are surely better off. However, if we are always reacting there is little chance to be a leader in the marketplace. Our front-line employees recognize this. It's difficult to get on board for one more change initiative when you feel you are operating from a position of weakness.

This issue applies in a global sense when thinking of how your company interacts in its market but can also be applied within the walls of an organization. Should your division wait for the mandate from headquarters or should you make change in anticipation of the direction of the company and the market? Change or be changed? That is the question.
