"I never give them hell. I just tell the truth and they think its hell."
Day-to-day activities may mask realities. A change scenario provides the opportunity to bring these realities to light. As a change leader many times we are put into the position of communicating these uncomfortable truths. While these issues may be expected by the change team it's important to consider the reactions of all stakeholders and to not gloss over the potential reactions. Statements of fact from a change leader may uncover perceived deficiencies and injure reputations. Although tough talk is needed to shake up the status quo, consideration of the stakeholder impact regarding issues change leaders may take for granted can make or break a change effort.
