Rumor - A Cultural Barometer
What are the rumors going around about your change initiative? We seldom get an opportunity to check out our organization from a cultural standpoint like we do during a change initiative. The rumors likely say more about the organization and what has come before than the change initiative at hand. Do the rumors in your organization indicate hopefulness or negativity? Realize of course that our society places a higher value on the tawdry, but too much negativity is a symptom. Do the rumors assume dishonesty? If the rumor were true would the organization be telling a lie or withholding information? If there is distrust, or a lack of communication, it likely will show up in the rumor mill. Pay attention!
