Role of Change Leader at Implementation
The job description for the successful change project manager at or very near the culmination of a project must be "Open". This is a terrible paradox because so much has to be done. However, near the end of the project is when you must be most attentive to protecting your team and allowing them the room to complete the project. Flexibility is key. At the end is when the top level executives decide to pay a visit or someone who has not paid attention for months decides "it's really going to happen" and demands attention. This is also the time when the project team is most tired and nerves are most frayed. You are sitting on a powder keg and all of the change project management skills are required to cap off a successful effort.
