Optimism - The Most Productive Approach

Change leadership is hard. It's necessary to be optimistic to keep us motivated. Optimism implies hope. Without hope all is lost. Balance is critical. When the sky appears to be falling the change leaders optimism provides the balance that allows a solution to be discovered. Success in finding a solution breeds increased optimism - a wonderful cycle. Now for the pessimists, if you're still reading, studies have shown that optimists actually are more likely to read bad news and to learn about their failures. Identifying failures are keys to change implementation. Rather than being unrealistic about the prospects of success optimists are more open to all aspects of a situation and actually discard impossible approaches quicker than pessimists. The key is hope.
