Decisions are required quickly. There is no time to check with management. Do the decision makers understand the organization’s strategy? Without this context the decision maker either wastes precious time or makes decisions that don’t necessarily support the strategy. If front-line staff know the strategy and goals, they can be empowered to make the split-second decisions that give life to the organization’s purpose. The first step to gaining the trust on both sides of this empowerment equation is for everyone to understand the business strategy.
